Bangkok packing list for families

Bangkok is hot, busy, and full of temples with dress codes, so the right clothes make every day smoother. Packing breathable, modest outfits and a few cooling helpers lets kids enjoy the city.

Kristina's notes on Bangkok

  1. The Grand Palace and major temples require covered shoulders and knees for everyone, kids included. I pack light long pants and sleeved tops that breathe, plus slip-on shoes since you take them off at temple doors.
  2. Bangkok heat is intense, so we sightsee early, return to the hotel pool midday, and head out again around sunset. River boats and the Skytrain beat sitting in traffic with kids.
  3. US citizens can visit visa-free for a short stay, but the allowed length has been changing, so check before you book. Everyone also fills out the free Thailand Digital Arrival Card online in the days before arrival.
