Cortina d'Ampezzo ski packing list for families

Cortina is as much about long Italian lunches and evening strolls as it is about skiing. This list covers the layers and small extras that keep a family comfortable on the Dolomites slopes and in town.

Kristina's notes on Cortina d'Ampezzo Ski

  1. In Cortina, lunch is part of the ski day. I plan for long, sit-down meals at mountain huts and pack an extra mid-layer so kids stay warm while we linger.
  2. Cortina's slopes are spread across several ski areas, linked by buses rather than lifts in places. Pick a hotel close to the area your kids will ski most, and pack a small backpack for carrying gloves and snacks between them.
  3. The town's main pedestrian street is made for an evening stroll, and people dress up a bit. I bring warm, stylish layers and boots with good grip for icy sidewalks.
