French Riviera packing list for families

The Riviera mixes beach-club days with polished dinners and easy train hops between Nice, Cannes, and Monaco. Packing for pebbles and a little dressing up is what makes it work for families.

Kristina's notes on French Riviera

  1. Nice's main beaches are pebbles, not sand, so water shoes make a big difference for kids. Beach clubs with loungers and a restaurant make the day much easier with little ones.
  2. The coastal train links Nice, Monaco, Cannes, and Antibes, and it's often faster than driving in summer traffic. Kids like it and you skip the parking.
  3. Grand Prix and Cannes Film Festival weeks in May bring big crowds and higher rates. Check those dates before you book, and pack one dressier outfit each for dinners in Monaco.
