Luang Prabang packing list for families

Luang Prabang is slow, sacred, and wonderful with kids who like a gentle pace. Packing modest clothes, a warm layer, and waterfall shoes covers almost everything you will do.

Kristina's notes on Laos: Luang Prabang

  1. The morning alms giving is a religious ceremony, not a show. We watch quietly from across the street, dressed modestly, with no flash and no crowding the monks.
  2. December and January mornings are surprisingly cool, especially on a Mekong boat. A light fleece for each child is worth the space.
  3. Kuang Si Falls has swimming pools at the lower tiers. Wear swimsuits under your clothes and bring water shoes, since the limestone can be slippery.
