Namibia packing list for families
Namibia swings from freezing desert dawns to hot, dusty afternoons, often on the same day. This list covers dune climbs, long drives, and Etosha game viewing with kids in tow.

Kristina's notes on Namibia
- Distances in Namibia are huge, and gravel roads make drives longer than the map suggests. I build in two nights at each stop, or use small charter flights between camps so the kids are not living in the car.
- The desert is cold at night and hot by midday, especially May through September. Dress kids in layers for the Sossusvlei sunrise, then peel down to a T-shirt before the climb back down the dune.
- Many lodges set minimum ages for game drives and walks, so ask before you book. Etosha is a great choice with younger kids because you can watch animals come to a floodlit waterhole right from camp.
