Phuket packing list for families
Phuket is an easy beach base, but island boat days, temple visits, and the monsoon swell all shape what to bring. Here is my packing list for families and how I pick the month.
Kristina's notes on Thailand: Phuket
- During the southwest monsoon (about May–Oct), west-coast beaches can have strong rip currents. Swim only where lifeguards post green flags, and pick a resort pool you love.
- Speedboats to Phi Phi and Phang Nga Bay can be bumpy. I book longer boats or calmer mornings for kids prone to motion sickness.
- Temples like Wat Chalong ask for covered shoulders and knees. A light layer in the beach bag saves a stop at the hotel.
