Rwanda gorilla trekking packing list for families
Gorilla trekking means steep, muddy hikes through mountain forest, and the right gear makes a real difference. This list is built for families with teens who trek, and younger siblings who stay close to the lodge.

Kristina's notes on Rwanda Gorilla Trekking
- Gorilla permits require trekkers to be at least 15, so this works best for families with teens. Younger kids can stay at the lodge or join gentler activities while parents trek.
- Gardening gloves are the item people forget. The trails have stinging nettles and you will grab branches on the way up and down.
- Treks can be short or take most of the day depending on where the gorillas are. Pack a small daypack with water, snacks, and a rain layer, since porters can carry it for you.
