Val d'Isère ski trip packing list for families

Val d'Isère's high altitude brings great snow and some of the coldest lift rides in the French Alps. This list covers the warm layers and small extras that keep a family comfortable on the mountain.

Kristina's notes on Val d'Isère Ski

  1. Val d'Isère sits high, so snow tends to be reliable from December into spring. That altitude also means cold, windy lift rides, and I pack face protection and an extra warm layer for everyone.
  2. The ski area links with Tignes and is huge, but young skiers don't need it all. I choose lodging near the ski school meeting point and keep kids on the gentler nursery areas by the village.
  3. Most families fly into Geneva and drive or transfer by road, which can take several hours on busy Saturdays. Pack snacks, motion sickness help and a change of clothes in the car bag.
